Surface Consulting began in 2007, when O'Guin realized that many architects, designers, and homeowners didn't seem to give the same attention to customizing the exterior surfaces of new multi-million dollar homes as they did to the interiors. He began researching materials and techniques, and ultimately developed a unique process to create perfectly-aged exterior surfaces that complement the grandeur within.

Christopher is now combining a trained aesthetic eye that he has developed over twenty years in the surface finishing realm with the technical knowledge and skills required by today's construction projects. He works with an international host of companies and a team of skilled artisans to achieve the look of everything from aged European stuccos to the hundred-year-old "patina" that is sought after for many "Mediterranean style" projects. The finishes that emerge are reminiscent of beautiful Italian villas, German castles, and French chateaus. In addition, the company creates sleek contemporary designs with the inherent softness of hand-applied and mottled-color textures.
